About us

Gut Guntrams is the name of an agricultural and tourism business in Guntrams near Schwarzau am Steinfeld. The farmer and host is Reinhard Adelsberger, who is responsible for running the business, while his employee Yannis Brix acts as his deputy.

The company has leased 3.6 hectares of farmland in Guntrams and utilises the harvested crops.

The Guntrams estate includes the ‘Veranda’ restaurant, three small nature hotels called ‘Gartenlofts’, ‘Villa Tranquillini’ and ‘Flora’, as well as the ‘Edelmacherei’ for the natural processing of agricultural products and a glasshouse called ‘Orangerie’ with different varieties of citrus fruits. The Guntrams Ark is responsible for nature and species conservation and a nature museum called the ‘Crystal Garden’ on the estate.

Dr Stefan M. Gergely owns the land and majority shares in the above-mentioned company.

Stefan M. Gergely

Born in 1950, studied chemistry and music. He was a science journalist for profil, ORF, Süddeutsche Zeitung and Die Zeit and wrote numerous books, including ‘Nahrung, Ernährung, Gesundheit’, ‘Diät – aber wie’ and ‘Mikroelektronik’. In the 1980s, he was active in the Codex Commission for Organic Agriculture. From 1990 to 2015, he opened and managed catering businesses and renovated the listed buildings in the Schlossquadrat in Vienna-Margareten. Since 2016, he has been involved in the development of the Guntrams estate, which he inherited from his mother, and in nature and species conservation.

Reinhard Adelsberger

Originally from Scheibbs.

He graduated from the Higher Vocational College for Tourism and also successfully completed training as an animal keeper, agricultural labourer and fruit tree keeper.

He worked for over 20 years as a restaurant specialist in pubs and as an animal keeper at the Strebersdorf animal clinic and the ARGE parrot protection organisation.

Yannis Brix

Born in 1990, is Reinhard Adelsberger’s deputy.

He graduated from the hospitality college at Judenplatz in Vienna, specialising in kitchen management and organisation, patisserie and service. After gaining his vocational qualification, he worked as a commis patissier at Julius Meinl am Graben, Hotel Sofitel Stephansdom, Palais Hansen Kempinski, Gregors Konditorei in Vienna-Margareten and others. He has been working at Gut Guntrams since 2018.

Sigrid Adelsberger

Mrs Sigrid Adelsberger, also from Scheibbs, studied technical chemistry at the Vienna University of Technology, her bachelor’s thesis was ‘Evaluation of the use of grape pomace and seeds in cosmetics’. She worked at the Federal Environment Agency in the Organic Analysis and Environmental Analysis and Chemicals departments. She is currently studying pharmacy and works in a pharmacy.
